Sadly, our world now is bound up by the spirit of perversion. The sad truth is that some christians are also. It’s either from the small talk with friends at school, moments we’ve encountered, or the mind eating porn, they all have perverted our minds. Some may ask, “What’s the big deal?”
But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. -Matthew 5:28
The spirit of perversion will contaminate your mind and stop you from doing the will of God. How? Because that spirit was not made by God, it was made by Satan to do the opposite of God’s plan: love, eternal life, and joy. I struggled with the spirit of perversion when I was younger and it kept me from doing all I could do for the will of God. It made me pervert a lot of things I saw and it made me have a lust issue (yes, that verse includes women too). I couldn’t normally look at a guy and just say he’s handsome in my mind and walk away. It controlled the way I thought and the way I did things. It also made me have the mind set like, “I can never do that because my mind is so dirty. I can never be like her because I did this.” After I was set free from it, I realized how bad it actually was. God can make you completely pure in your mind, heart, and spirit like He did to me.
But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? -Matthew 9:4
I’m just going to be straight up with you. Porn is a sin. And to many, it’s a god that has controlled so many young people, and also older people. It’s an addiction, and any addiction is a god to you because it’s controlling you instead. Maybe your not addicted, but the minute you open your mind up to perversion, it contaminates your mind. Its not natural. Porn kills love. It gives you a mind set on what love is and what its suppose to be, but God’s way of love is nothing like that.
Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous. -Hebrews 13:4
And now these three remain: Faith, hope, and love. Love is the greatest of them all. -1 Corinthians 13:13
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. -1 John 1:9
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.- 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
